The documentary 'NAZA', directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, is a crucial film in this month's programming. The title is a Hebrew military acronym for 'collateral damage', referring to the estimated number of civilians who may die in an attack. Filmed secretly over three years, it features anonymous testimonies from 24 Israeli military personnel and intelligence agents involved in target selection in Gaza. Their accounts reveal the workings of surveillance systems and artificial intelligence, the calculations preceding bombings, and how civilian deaths are factored into military decisions. 'NAZA', created by two of the filmmakers behind the Oscar-winning 'No Other Land', premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it was the only documentary nominated for the Golden Lion, receiving a 25-minute standing ovation and winning the Jury Special Prize.
