The island's long west traverse, from the Caldeira viewpoint along the Capelo volcanic ridge to the Capelinhos eruption site and the Costado da Nau cliff. It reads as the island's own history: ten cones in a line, ending at the ash field the 1957–58 eruption left. Starts between 800 and 900 metres, so the register asks for a clear day. Hard, 19.3 km, five hours.
