Rocha da Fajã

A circuit down to the Fajã da Praia do Norte, on the north-west coast, much of which the 1672 Cabeço do Fogo eruption buried. The fossil cliff above it is its own geosite, and the shelf below has the microclimate that let people grow vines, build cellars and keep summer houses down there. Graded medium, 5 km; the descent is steep and needs care.
