Morro de Castelo Branco

A short circuit out to the Morro de Castelo Branco, a trachyte dome that forms a peninsula on the south coast and is both a nature reserve and a geosite. From Lombega a farm track leads to the cliff edge, and the path then follows it through Azorean heather, fayatree and giant reed. Easy, 3.7 km, an hour and a half; there is a café at the start.
