What a Graciosa trip costs in 2026: ferry fares, flights, beds, car and tickets

What Graciosa costs in 2026: Atlânticoline's published ferry fares (EUR 42.80 one way to Terceira, EUR 88.70 return for a car), why the EUR 61 Azores Fare is for residents only, published rates for rural houses, the October 2026 fuel cap, the Furna do Enxofre tickets, and which prices you have to ask for.

Before you book Graciosa, it helps to know which prices you can look up and which you will have to ask for. The ferry fares are fixed and public, the cave has a price list, and a few rural houses print their rates. Flights, hotel rooms and hire cars are priced by date, so the best this guide can do is tell you where the fixed numbers end and where you need a quote.

Every figure below carries the year it was published. Prices change, so check before you book.

The ferry: the one fare you can know in advance

Atlânticoline sails to Vila da Praia, on Graciosa's east coast, in summer only. In 2026 departures from Graciosa ran between 1 June and 28 September, nearly all on Mondays and Fridays. Outside that window you fly.

The 2026 fares from Graciosa for a visitor, one way and return:

  • To Praia da Vitória (Terceira) or Velas (São Jorge): EUR 42.80 one way, EUR 85.60 return for an adult aged 13 to 64.
  • To Horta (Faial): EUR 45.90 one way, EUR 91.80 return.
  • Children aged 3 to 12 pay half: EUR 21.40 one way to Terceira or São Jorge.
  • Over-65s pay EUR 30.00 one way on the same routes.
  • A car up to 5.4 m long and under 1.9 m high costs EUR 58.70 one way or EUR 88.70 return, and the driver needs a passenger ticket on top. A motorbike is EUR 20.30, a bicycle EUR 10.00.

Residents of the Azores pay less: EUR 28.00 one way to Terceira for an adult. If a local quotes you a lower fare, that is the reason.

Two adults taking a car from Terceira and back pay EUR 259.90 at those rates: two return tickets at EUR 85.60 and a car return at EUR 88.70. Between June and September Atlânticoline also runs a Family Pack, 30% off adult and child tickets for two or more passengers travelling to or from Graciosa and Terceira, so ask for it at the ticket office.

Cancelling costs nothing up to five days before you sail. After that you get 85% back, and nothing once the boat has left. If Atlânticoline changes or cancels the sailing, you are entitled to a full refund. The timetable and the crossing times are in planning Graciosa.

Flights: no fixed price for visitors

SATA Air Açores flies into Graciosa's airport from Ponta Delgada, Terceira and Horta. Its fares for visitors move with the date and the demand, so there is no figure to give you.

You may read about the EUR 61 return "Azores Fare". It is real, but only people with tax residence in the Azores can buy it. Visitors pay the ordinary inter-island fares, sold in classes that differ mainly in what a change costs: on the cheapest, Smart, a change costs EUR 20 and a refund EUR 50; on Value a change costs EUR 25.

If you are flying to the Azores with Azores Airlines anyway, ask about the Azores Air Pass. It is for non-residents with a ticket between the Azores and somewhere outside, and lets you add inter-island legs with up to three stops of more than 24 hours. Price the trip to Graciosa as part of that ticket and as a separate booking, and take the cheaper.

A bed for the night

Graciosa has two hotels, both in Santa Cruz. Hotel da Graciosa has 44 rooms, two suites and six villas, and every room type includes breakfast; rates appear only once you pick your dates. Hotel Santa Cruz is a two-star with 18 rooms in the middle of town.

The rural houses are where you find printed prices. Quinta dos Frutos in Guadalupe published its rates per night for 2023 and 2024: a two-bedroom house cost EUR 50 from November to April, EUR 60 in May, June, September and October, and EUR 80 in July and August, with the one-bedroom houses EUR 10 more in each period. There is a two-night minimum. Moinho Mó da Praia, a converted windmill near the beach in Praia that sleeps up to six, gave a guide price of EUR 60 to 90 a night in its September 2026 listing. Treat these as a sense of scale and ask for the current rate.

The Carapacho campsite in Luz publishes no prices; phone (+351) 295 712 959. All the bases are compared in where to stay on Graciosa.

If you stopped on São Miguel first, you will have paid a tourist tax there. That one is charged by São Miguel's six municipalities, EUR 2 a night up to three nights, since 1 January 2025. Graciosa is a separate municipality, Santa Cruz da Graciosa, and is not part of that scheme. Your booking confirmation will show any tax that does apply.

Car, fuel and the bus

Graciosa is 12.5 km long and 7 km at its widest, so distances are short. From 1 October 2026 the regional maximum price in the Azores is EUR 1.924 a litre for unleaded 95 and EUR 1.939 for diesel. The cap is revised during the year, so check the current figure.

Hire firms list pick-up at the airport. We found no local firm that publishes its rates, so get quotes through a comparison site or directly, and book early for July and August.

The island bus is the budget option, with two loops out of Santa Cruz. Its timetable has no Sunday departures and its fares are not posted online; phone +351 295 732 363. Routes and times are in getting around Graciosa.

Entry tickets

The Furna do Enxofre, the lava cave under the Caldeira, is the main sight with a ticket. On the 2025 price list an adult paid EUR 5, children aged 7 to 14 and over-65s EUR 2, children up to 6 nothing, and a family of two adults with children up to 14 paid EUR 10. Call +351 295 714 009 to check the current price and hours. More in the Furna do Enxofre guide.

The Termas do Carapacho, the thermal baths on the south coast, have a thermal season from 1 May to 30 September. They publish no tariff, so ask by phone on +351 295 714 068.

What you can price before you leave

  • Ferry tickets and the car on the boat: fixed, on Atlânticoline's fare table.
  • The Furna do Enxofre: a printed price list.
  • Rural houses: some print seasonal rates; ask for this year's.
  • Flights, hotel rooms and hire cars: quote by date, as early as you can for summer.
