Book Launch and Documentary Screening at Museu do Pico

On October 7th, the Museu do Pico will host a cultural evening featuring the launch of the book 'Capelinhos – Fotobiografia de um Vulcão' and the screening of the documentary 'Vulcão de São Jorge 1964 – Testemunhos.' The book, published by Letras Lavadas, offers a visual and documentary exploration of the 1957–58 Capelinhos eruption on Faial, featuring photographs by Luís Carlos Decq Motta and José Agostinho. The documentary, produced by Associação Os Montanheiros, provides first-person accounts of the 1964 volcanic events on São Jorge. Both works are coordinated by Paulo Henrique Silva and supported by Associação Os Montanheiros, with scientific contributions from geologist Salomé Meneses.
