Lagoa do Capitão

From the Estrada Transversal in the central highlands past the Lagoa do Capitão and down to the north coast, losing 750 metres on the way. The upper path runs between old Azores junipers and skirts the Piquinho cone with the north coast below; the vegetation changes with the altitude the whole way down. Graded medium, 9.3 km.
