Canadas da Ribeirinha

A north-east walk from Terra Alta to Calhau on the old lanes, beginning on the Caminho da Atalhada where the ox-cart ruts are still in the ground. It drops through cheesewood, fayatree, Azores laurel and holly, with a marked detour to the Alto dos Cedros viewpoint, which looks across the channel to São Jorge. Easy, 8.7 km, four hours.
