Fajãs do Toledo

A hard circuit from the village of Toledo down to three abandoned fajãs — Manuel Teixeira, Rasa and Vasco Martins — and back up the cliff. All three were worked until the 1980 earthquake and then left; what is there now is cellars, grape presses, terraced plots gone to pasture and the firewood cable lines. The route lies inside the São Jorge Natural Park. Hard, 6.8 km, three hours.
