Online webinar on loneliness and longevity set for 29 September
A free online session will examine how loneliness and social isolation affect health, well-being and quality of life.
The Regional Secretariat for Health and Social Security will hold the online webinar "O Impacto da Solidão na Longevidade" on 29 September, from 14:00 to 16:00. Participation is free.
The initiative is part of the Regional Programme for the Promotion of Active and Healthy Ageing and is integrated into the Plano Regional de Saúde 2030. It will be led by the team of the Conselhos Consultivos para a Longevidade.
According to the Azorean government, it is the third session in a webinar cycle on the subject. The session aims to raise awareness of the effects of loneliness and social isolation on health, well-being and quality of life, while highlighting social relationships, community participation and local support responses in healthy and active ageing.

The programme will include presentations by gerontologist Bruno Soares on the Ilhavo municipality's social participation and anti-loneliness practices; PSP subcommissioner Ines Costa on the Apoio 65 programme; Beatriz Furtado of the MOVida project; and psychologist Joana Amen on loneliness, health and longevity. It also includes time for dialogue with the audience.
The event is aimed at health and social-sector professionals, students and the general public. Advance registration via a digital form is required. Enquiries can be sent to prs2030@azores.gov.pt.
