The long way into Sete Cidades, along the eastern rim of the caldera from Mata do Canário down to the village. Near the start it follows the Muro das Nove Janelas, the 1830 aqueduct that carried water to Ponta Delgada, then climbs to Pico da Cruz and runs the ridge with the lakes on one side and the north coast on the other. Nearly twelve kilometres, graded medium.
