Fortes de São Sebastião

The fort walk on the south-east coast, in the Cinco Picos massif, ending in the village of São Sebastião. It passes the Greta and Santa Catarina das Mós forts, both of 1581, part of the sea defences that made Terceira the hardest island in the Atlantic to take, with the Contendas lighthouse and the Ilhéu das Cabras offshore. Easy, 5.9 km, two and a half hours.
