Livramento and São Roque health unit inaugurated
The PRR-funded facility is designed for eight family health teams and can serve up to 13,600 users in eastern Ponta Delgada.
A new health unit for Livramento and São Roque was inaugurated in Ponta Delgada, on São Miguel, according to Notícias que Contam. The €5.7 million project was financed through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR). José Manuel Bolieiro, president of the Azores regional government, presided over the ceremony, which was also attended by Ponta Delgada city council president Pedro Nascimento Cabral.
The facility has been operating since 14 September 2026 and is part of the Unidade de Saúde da Ilha de São Miguel (USISM), the source reported. It currently serves 5,018 users and has a reported coverage rate of 99.04%.
Designed for eight family health teams, the unit can serve up to 13,600 users. It is intended to meet current needs and possible population growth in the eastern part of the municipality.
Services include general and family medicine consultations, nursing, treatments and home support. The installations also provide child and pediatric health, maternal and obstetric health, dental medicine, nutrition and psychology services.
This site previously reported that Bolieiro called for health-sector waste cuts at the Livramento and São Roque inauguration.
